Opening the desk
How a floor claims a seat, names an operator, and files the first quiet brief.
A desk is a named seat, not a login. When you claim one, you are saying: this operator will file briefs, seal holds, and read the ledger at dawn.
What you need before dusk
- A floor name people will actually say out loud
- One operator who will own the first holds
- Two conduits you already pay for, not a wish list
- One brief that is boring enough to run tonight
Do not start with a grand automation program. Start with a rail you can replay in the morning without shame.
Claiming the seat
Register, name the floor, and take Night Watch for fourteen nights. Bind two conduits. Write one brief. Let it run. Replay it. If the ledger is dishonest, stop. If it is merely ugly, refine the brief.
What “open” means
The desk is open when:
- An operator is named
- At least one conduit is bound
- A brief exists that the desk can run without inventing steps
Until then you have an account, not a floor.
The first night
File something that already happens: a handoff packet, a room note, a copy into a sheet. Mark one step as a hold even if you think it is safe. You are training the floor to expect a human, not testing how far the desk will go without one.
